The UVA Center for Global Health has hosted the Global Health Case Competition for six years running. The inaugural competition in 2013 asked students to address the issue of extremely drug resistant tuberculosis in the economically revitalized and historic Mumbai slum of Dharavi. THIS ARTICLE covers our inaugural competition and you can read the case HERE. Our 2019 competition focused on Women’s Health and Intimate Partner Violence in Nicaragua. You can read the case here.
Winners of the UVA Global Health Case Competition have been historically awarded the opportunity to compete in the Emory International Global Health Case Competition, which brings together interdisciplinary teams from universities around the world! We recommend that all aspiring participants peruse THESE RESOURCES on their website.
Finalist team presentations from the Fall 2014 Competition can be viewed HERE. We caution all participants against modeling their proposals based on these videos given the variability of each year’s case and subsequent judging criteria. Instead, we ask you to empathize with a panel of multidisciplinary judges, identify the strengths and areas of improvement of each proposal, and translate this understanding as you craft your own. Good luck!
